Benjamin Logan fourth-grade teacher Barb Kuck recently attended a workshop presented by Ohio Energy Project for fourth-grade teachers on Electricity, Circuits and Thermal Energy. She received the NEED curriculum for fourth grade, lesson plans, student worksheets and $300 worth of educational materials, including five sets of snap circuits, digital thermometers, circuit batons, and other hands-on manipulatives. Participants worked individually at their own table with supplies, experimenting making series and parallel circuits with the snap circuit kits, and also using various materials to experiment with heat transfer. Suggestions were provided regarding how to utilize this program with a class of students during COVID-19, either at school or at home.
