Edith Mae McCarty, 103, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Campbell Place in Bellefontaine, surrounded by her loving family.
Edith was born July 2, 1918 in Byhalia, to the late William and Myrtle (Fox) Bolen. On October 23, 1935 in Delaware, Ohio, she married Eugene Ward “Buck” McCarty, who preceded her in death on January 3, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Randall and granddaughter Paula.
She is survived by her sons, Jack (Margurite) and William “Bill” (Beverly); two granddaughters, four great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
After working as a cosmetologist, Edith spent World War II working at Curtis-Wright aircraft plant as a real-life Rosie the Riveter. She retired in 1977 after working at D.A.B. for 26 years. The golden years of her retirement were spent landscaping and maintaining a yard that was admired by every visitor to her home. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A private family service will take place at a later date.
