“It definitely takes hard work,” said Kayla, who showed the reserve grand champion market lamb Wednesday night.
This makes Kayla’s third consecutive year winning the title. Kayla says she buys her lambs from Shroyer Show Stock and works her sheep hard.
Colby attributed his win to a big top and the amount of muscle on his lamb.
“I learned to stick with it,” said Colby. “There were days where I wanted to give up.”
The sixth-grader says keeping the lamb from becoming overweight was the most challenging obstacle he had to face.
“I had to learn to adjust the feed after weighing,” said Colby.
Colby has been raising lambs for three years with the help of his family and Emily Overs, a DeGraff resident.
“He works them every morning and every night,” said Ms. Overs. “He works hard.”
