A West Liberty-area woman was issued a citation for impaired driving Thursday, and had to be hospitalized as a result of her level of intoxication.
Anita Clem, 61, was issued the summons for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, after she was found lying in the roadway in the area of State Route 559 near the Champaign County line.
Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report a Perry Township EMS staff member located the Clem, and administered aid until an ambulance arrived on scene.
Deputies report Clem admitted to drinking four beers and two shots at a North Lewisburg establishment, and then driving her vehicle.
She reportedly told law enforcement that any breath or urine test would show her well over the legal limit. Clem initially submitted to a urine test, but was unable to provide a sample and was marked as a refusal.
In addition to the impaired driving charge, Clem was also cited for prohibited parking on the roadway. She was assigned a court date, and the vehicle was turned over to a sober person.
