Max Morrison, 27, of Lima, was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of a controlled substance as a result of a traffic stop about 9:45 p.m. Monday.
Officers of the Russells Point Police Department noticed a vehicle fail to properly use turn signals. A check of the vehicle’s license plates showed the vehicle did not match the registration. Officers initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Morrison.
Officers noticed he seemed very nervous and was sweating profusely. They also observed his pupils were pinpoint consistent with narcotic use.
A request was made for Washington Township Police Department K9 Bruno to assist on the scene and he alerted on the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in multiple syringes and a white powdery substance believed to be fentanyl.
Morrison was arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail. He had been out on bond for a felony possession charge in a separate incident. Washington Township Police Department officers assisted at the scene.
OVI arrests logged
Elaina Bernath, 26, of Lakeview, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and received a citation for marked lanes during a traffic stop about 1:15 a.m. Sunday.
Officers noticed a vehicle weaving in and out of its lane on east Main Street near Lincoln Boulevard.
Officers initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Bernath. Officers smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage as well as signs of impairment. The driver was asked to perform standard field sobriety tests, which had to be stopped for safety reasons.
Bernath was placed under arrest and transported to Logan County Jail, where she was released to a sober driver. Chemical tests results are pending.
• Phillip Golden, 23, of Lakeview, was charged with OVI as a result of a traffic stop about 1 a.m. Monday.
Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation near U.S. Route 33 and Lincoln Boulevard.
The driver was identified as Golden. While speaking with him, officers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and he showed signs of impairment.
Officers learned Golden and his passengers had been drinking throughout the evening. The driver was asked to submit to the standard field sobriety tests, which he failed.
Golden was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail, where he refused testing.
