First responders and the Logan County Hazardous Materials Team work on the scene of a one-vehicle rollover crash involving an Ohio Ready Mix concrete truck Wednesday morning on State Route 274. Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Officer report the driver, Theodore F. Hyzer, 58, of Kenton, was transported by Rushcreek EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the 8:15 a.m. crash. Hyzer reportedly was operating the eastbound truck loaded with 8 yards of concrete near County Road 25 when he said a dog came up to the roadway and he applied his brakes. The truck traveled off the right side of the road, through a ditch before entering back onto the roadway. The truck then overturned onto its right side and slid to a stop on the road. The Haz Mat Team dealt with diesel fuel leaking from the fuel tank of the truck, and Ohio Ready Mix provided clean up of concrete, along with Tops Towing & Garage, which also towed the truck from the scene. Rushcreek Fire Department responded to the scene, along with Ohio Department of Transportation to set up road closed barriers for the time of the clean up. The driver was cited for failure to control and he was wearing his seat belt, deputies said. (ANDREW McVETY PHOTO)
