Driver Ashley Morrison, 31, of DeGraff, and her passenger, Brandon Risner, 29, also of DeGraff, each were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia as a result of a traffic stop about 3:50 p.m. Friday.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patrol in the area of State Route 235 and County Road 54 observed a vehicle without a front license plate. When officers checked the vehicle registration, the information came back to different vehicle.
Officers then initiated the stop and asked Morrison to exit the vehicle. A clear capsule containing a white powdery substance was observed on the driver’s seat.
Washington Township K9 Bruno was called to the scene and alerted on the vehicle. A vehicle search was conducted, which yielded several clear capsules with a white residue substance inside and several clear plastic baggies commonly used to transport narcotics. Officers also located a marijuana pipe inside the glove box.
Both occupants were arrested and were both lodged in the Logan County Jail. Morrison also was cited for driving under non-compliance suspension and a failure to reinstate suspension. The evidence collected will be sent for further lab testing. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
