Jake J. Harmon, 23, of Belle Center, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and abusing harmful intoxicants as a result of an incident Saturday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched about 9:55 p.m. to the area of county roads 1 and 5 in reference to a vehicle located alongside the road with an unresponsive occupant.
Deputies made several attempts to wake up the driver, Harmon, by speaking loudly and completing sternum rubs, and he eventually woke up, but appeared confused and disoriented, deputies said.
In the center console of the vehicle, deputies located an open container of whiskey, a marijuana pipe with suspected marijuana, a pill bottle and a can of aerosol spray.
Harmon told deputies he had been “huffing” the aerosol can while he was driving. He said he was uncertain where he was, but thought he was in Logan County. He stated that he did not remember driving off the road.
He was unable to complete field sobriety testing because he was unable to keep his eyes open. The defendant declined medical treatment offered by deputies and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
