Summons issued for possession of marijuana
Timothy A. Butler, 50, of 208 S. Main St., DeGraff, was issued a summons for possession of marijuana and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle during a traffic stop about 7:50 p.m. Monday in DeGraff.
Deputies on patrol observed his vehicle at the intersection of south Main Street and Hayes Street and said the vehicle did not come to a complete stop at the stop sign. A traffic stop was initiated and during deputies’ interaction with Butler, they observed an odor of alcoholic beverage on his person.
Butler told deputies he had consumed a beer about 30 minutes ago. He passed field sobriety tests administered by deputies.
The driver also agreed to a consent search of the vehicle, and deputies recovered a baggie containing suspected marijuana, along with a package labeled as THC gummies and open containers of beer.
The defendant also was cited for driving under non-compliance suspension and a stop sign violation.
