Rodney Taylor, 54, of Russells Point, was transported to Lima Memorial Health System by Indian Lake EMS with apparent minor injuries resulting from a medically-related crash Friday evening.
Officers of the Russells Point Police Department said dispatchers initially reported a male had been struck by a vehicle in the 5 p.m. crash in the 800 block of Miami Avenue. However, responders were soon updated the male fell from a moving vehicle.
As personnel arrived on scene, they learned that Taylor was operating a pickup from a driveway on Kress Street near Miami Avenue.
The vehicle reportedly spun out of control and Taylor, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was ejected onto the roadway. The vehicle continued northbound through a yard, striking a fire hydrant and a small tree before witnesses were able to enter the vehicle and put the transmission in park.
The fire hydrant was severed from its base, but no water leakage occurred. The vehicle had minor damage.
Also assisting at the scene were Washington Township Police Department, Indian Joint Fire District, and Indian Lake EMS.
Taylor was not cited since the investigation revealed the crash to be medically-related.
