Gary Lee Bensman, 70, of 207 S. Hayes St., was charged Saturday with assault and operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He was issued traffic citations for leaving the scene of a crash and improper backing.
At 3:40 p.m., officers of the Bellefontaine responded to a complaint at Speedway, 329 S. Main St., in which Bensman allegedly threw change at a clerk, stormed out of the store to his sport utility vehicle and backed into another SUV before driving off.
He and his damaged SUV were located at his residence. Officers believed based on their observations Bensman was intoxicated.
He refused to participate in field sobriety tests or provide a breathalyzer sample. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
The other SUV was registered to Jonathon Rowe of Bellefontaine.
• Kelton M. Young, 24, of Findlay, was charged Sunday with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and possession of marijuana. He also was issued a traffic citation for marked lanes violations.
He was stopped at 12:55 a.m. after an officer observed him turn his car from the curb lane of eastbound Sandusky Avenue left onto northbound Main Street. Another lane violation was observed at Main and Rush Avenue.
Upon contact, the officer detected an odor of alcohol as he spoke with Young. The motorist’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot, the officer reports, and his speech was thick and slurred.
Field sobriety tests indicated he was under the influence of alcohol and he was taken into custody. At the police station, he provided a breathalyzer sample of 0.125.
Marijuana drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana was found in Young’s car.
He was released to a sober driver.
• Sady K. Young, 31, of New Castle, Ind., was charged Sunday with OVI and issued citations for a marked lanes violation, an improper turn at an intersection and expired registration.
Around 2:55 a.m., she was pulled over after an officer observed her turn from Main onto to eastbound Columbus Avenue. Her sport utility vehicle crossed over the center line and into the westbound lane, the officer reports. He followed the motorist to Madriver Marathon, 200 E. Sandusky Ave., and from there, onto an alley and the east on Columbus. A stop was conducted in the 500 block.
The officer met Young at her SUV and detected an odor of alcohol. Her eyes were glassy and bloodshot and her speech was thick and slurred.
Field sobriety tests indicated she was under the influence of alcohol and she was taken into custody. Her breathalyzer sample was 0.119.
She was released to a sober driver.
Wanted man chased down
Jordan Brannan, 21, of 608 Florence Ave., was arrested on warrants for failure to appear and a parole violation after a foot chase and search Thursday.
Officers were at his residence at 9:25 p.m. to serve the warrants when Brannan ran into a nearby wooded area. He refused to come out even as the department’s K-9 warned he was going to release his dog.
Another officer found Brannan behind a tree and amongst its exposed roots.
He was directed out of the woods at gunpoint, taken into custody and lodged in jail.
Officers filed an additional charge of obstructing official business.

• Crystal L. Stratton, 39, at large: failure to appear;
• Sergio T. Ramos, 18, of 441 W. Chillicothe Ave.: failure to appear; and
• Anthony M. Mathews, 35, at large: failure to appear.
