Carrie E. Knapp, 46, 3299 State Route 540, Apt. 56, Bellefontaine, was charged with domestic violence and disorderly conduct related to an incident Wednesday
Shawn Knapp, 43, of 105 E. Buckeye St., Belle Center, also was served with a warrant during the same incident.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office initially responded to the area of 102 E. Buckeye St., Belle Center, about 2:55 p.m. on a report of a woman who was yelling at pedestrians who were passing by. Witnesses said the woman, later identified as Ms. Knapp, entered a vehicle with Mr. Knapp and left the area.
Deputies located the vehicle in the area of State Route 638 and County Road 106 and initiated a traffic stop at Miami Valley Barns along U.S. Route 68.
During the stop, deputies observed a laceration on Mr. Knapp’s right eyebrow and dried blood on Ms. Knapp’s lips. Mr. Knapp had been operating the vehicle, deputies said.
Mr. Knapp told deputies that she had struck with a glass bottle, but wouldn’t say whether or not he struck her. Ms. Knapp told deputies that he struck her in the face while they were driving. She initially declined to get out of the vehicle when she was told she was under arrest.
Both defendants were placed under arrest and were transported to the Logan County Jail.
