The Ridgemont Board of Education awarded during their Thursday evening meeting a $361,320 contract to Thomas and Marker Construction for demolition and related work at the former Ridgemont High School in Ridgeway and Ridgemont Elementary School in Mt. Victory.
A total of six bids were received for the project, and Thomas & Marker submitted the lowest bid.
A notice to proceed will be sent today, with work to begin immediately and be completed by Aug. 1, school officials report. The demolition includes work to restore grounds to “development ready” conditions and to rebuild an exterior wall at the Ridgeway building, where the older part of the building will be removed from the newer addition.
A portion of the Ridgeway facility will remain intact for extracurricular activities.
The demolition works follows the district’s opening of its new pre-K through 12 school building this school year in Mt. Victory.
