Dean K. Guthrie, 69, of Bellefontaine, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at his home.
He was born April 9, 1947, in Bellefontaine, a son of Earl and Nina Winder Guthrie. He also was preceded in death by sisters, Deloris (Babe) Preston and Sandra Kelly; and brothers-in-law, James Houchin, David Kiser, Cliff Sanders and Lynn Johnson.
Survivors include his daughters, Kimberly (Ryland) Eades, Tracie (Jon) Payer; his companion Brenda Moon and her family, Amber, Josh and Kaylee Moon; sisters, Phyllis “Peg” Sanders, Lauretta (Robert) Henry, Shirley Kiser and Mary Houchin Johnson; brother, James L. (Trudy) Guthrie; grandchildren, Darby Eades, Sydnee and Jon Garrett Payer; several nieces, nephews; and a host of friends.
Dean was a retired lifelong carpenter and retired from Logan County Commissioners. He was U.S. Army veteran serving during Vietnam.
He was a life member of the AMVETS Post 39 Lakeview, Bellefontaine VFW Post 1080 and Bellefontaine Moose Lodge 2563. He also was a member of the AMVETS Post 105 Color Guard, which served the governor. He became an avid golfer late in his life.
A graveside service is at noon Monday, July 25, at Highland Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is two hours prior at Jennings Farley Funeral Home & Crematory, West Liberty, where condolences may be expressed at jenningsfarley.com.
