Dan A. Elliott, 78, of Marion, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born on March 20, 1937, in Bellefontaine, a son of the late Wilbur B. and Grace K. Conrad Elliott.
On May 22, 2011, he married Ruth Maggs and she survives, along with children, Joni Cochran and Jami Porter, both of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Joseph R. Elliott of Indianapolis; stepchildren, Jane Tolle, Joyce Allen and Cara Allen, all of Marion, and Jill Dineen of Worthington; grandchildren, Michael Porter and Jennifer Wells; one great-grandchild, Kamille Wells; sister, Grace Hagenow of Powder Springs, Ga.; a brother, William Robert “Bob” Elliott of Columbia, S.C.; and three other grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he worked at Westinghouse, then at Maytag-Genair Company in Indianapolis and retired in 1996. He graduated in 1956 from Bellefontaine High School.
Pastor Chuck Temple officiates a graveside service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Bellefontaine Cemetery, with military rites by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard. Pastor Dave Holdren officiates a Celebration of Life service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, at the Day Spring Wesleyan Church, 2431 Marion-Mt. Gilead Road, Marion, where calling is a half hour prior.
