Dale A. VanGundy, 82, of Jackson Center, OH, formerly of Lakeview, OH passed away Friday morning, July 30, 2021, at Logan Acres Care Center, Bellefontaine, OH.
Dale was born on March 12, 1939, in Lima, OH, a son of the late Lee and Ersa Bowsher VanGundy. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian VanGundy, grandson, Colton Park, son-in-law, Robin Park, brother, Warren VanGundy, and mother and father-in-law, Carey and Betty Snapp.
Dale married Valerie K. Snapp on September 20, 1959, at Grace Chapel Christian Union Church in Santa Fe, OH and she survives along with their two daughters, Lisa (Steve Fridley) Park of Lakeview, and Gina (Aaron) Jenkins of Villa Rica, GA, three grandchildren, Hannah Park, Dylan (Brittany) Jenkins, and Justin (Miranda) Jenkins, two great-granddaughters, Alithia and Elaina, a sister, Marilyn (Albert) Barnes of Wapakoneta, OH and sister-in-law, LaDema VanGundy of Wapakoneta.
Dale was a 1958 graduate of Stokes Local School in Lakeview. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked at Airstream for 23 years and the Honda of America Manufacturing for 21 years before retiring. Dale was a member of Grace Chapel Christian Union Church and Ohio Gun Collectors Association. He was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed attending gun shows, a true believer in the 2nd Amendment. Dale enjoyed watching live sporting events with his wife and classic cars. He was ornery and fun, enjoying making people laugh even at the most inappropriate times. No one was a stranger when Dale was in the room, and to know him was to love him. He was an amazing husband and father who loved to spoil his family. He will be tremendously missed by his family and close friends.
Pastor Ed Shady will begin memorial services at 3:00 pm, Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Grace Chapel Christian Union Church in Santa Fe with visitation from 2-3. Military rites will be performed by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions in Dale’s memory may be given to Grace Chapel Christian Union Church.
