Samantha L. Slatzer, 25, of 4000 Alpine Parkway, lot R1, Zanesfield, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a non-injury crash about 2:45 a.m. Friday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report she was operating a westbound 2020 Chevrolet Equinox on the 1000 block of Alpine Valley Road when she drove off the left side of the road, striking two mailboxes and a trash can before coming to a rest in the ditch.
Slatzer had informed sheriff’s office dispatchers that she was on her way home when she swerved to miss a deer and went off the road. She said her vehicle was stuck in the ditch.
When deputies arrived, they noted that the vehicle had sustained heavy damage.
Deputies also observed an odor of alcohol on Slatzer’s breath and she told them she had consumed two beers earlier in the evening, and that someone had spilled beer on her.
She submitted to field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. At the Logan County Jail, she submitted to a breath test, with a result of 0.128 blood alcohol content. She also was cited for failure to control and was released to a sober party.
