Calvin L. Board, 32, of 8890 Township Road 239, Lakeview, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a non-injury crash Sunday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 8:25 p.m. to a report from the West Liberty Police Department regarding a person in the ditch on U.S. Route 68 near County Road 191.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies learned that Board was operating a southbound 2011 Buick LeSabre on U.S. 68 and admitting to texting while driving. He reportedly went left of center and off the left side of the road into the ditch and struck a telephone pole.
Damage was heavy to the vehicle, which was towed from the scene.
Board told deputies that prior to the crash, he “probably had too much to drink, and should not be driving.” He submitted to field sobriety tests.
The defendant was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he also submitted to a urine test, with results pending. He was cited for failure to control and was released to a sober party.

An unknown driver was operating a southbound vehicle that went off the right side of the road and struck a mailbox.
