Two people were charged Thursday after officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department responded to an early morning domestic dispute complaint.
Levi J. Simpson, 23, of 812 Heritage Court, Apt. 18, was arrested for domestic violence, furnishing alcohol to an underage person and possession of marijuana. Desiree S. Spitler, 18, of the same address, was charged with underage consumption of alcohol.
Officers arrived at the residence around 5 a.m. after a witness reported Simpson threatened to break Spitler’s jaw. Upon arrival, officers heard Simpson screaming and the cries and screams of a small child. They also heard a loud crashing sound just before Simpson opened the front door.
He exited the apartment and asked the officers to take him to jail. He was handcuffed and placed in a cruiser.
He admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana for most of the prior day.
Spitler was found inside holding the couple’s four-month-old daughter. She told them she consumed alcohol with Simpson after she arrived home from work about five hours prior.
She acknowledged the two were arguing and Simpson pushed her but she said he never hit her.
Simpson was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
