Weather conditions were ideal Sunday when firefighters with the Bellefontaine Fire & EMS Department and the Tri-Valley Joint Fire District conducted a prescribed burn operation at the Myeerah Nature Preserve.
Four sections of restored prairie, totaling 29.15 acres, were successfully burned under controlled conditions, maintaining critical wildlife habitat areas, according to Bellefontaine Auxiliary Firefighter Jeremy Keller.
Mr. Keller is a certified prescribed fire manager and he planned and directed Sunday’s burn.
He was assisted by five other Bellefontaine firefighters, three from Tri-Valley and two people from the Bellefontaine Parks Department.
