A host of entertainment acts are planned for the West Liberty Labor Day Festival at Lions Park, including the Country Legends Concert Series Saturday afternoon and evening, and a Shine FM concert Sunday evening.
Country stars Clay Walker, John Michael Montgomery and Confederate Railroad perform at the Saturday show, with gates opening at 2 p.m. The first band takes the stage at 3 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.countrylegendscs.com.
Last year, the Country Legends Concert Series hosted Little Texas in 2020 at the festival.
“Despite everything that was going on with the pandemic, we tested the waters at the West Liberty Labor Day celebration,” CLCS Co-Founder Matt Hull said. “Little Texas put on a great show, and we really had a very positive response. Because of that, we decided that we wanted to try and build something special in our town.”
Headliner Clay Walker is an ACM and AMA nominated artist has had six chart-topping singles, including “What’s It to You,” “Live Until I Die,” and “If I Could Make a Living.”
Also performing are John Michael Montgomery (15 number one singles) and Confederate Railroad (five top-10 singles). Dayton native and viral social media star Thomas Mac will also be performing along with local bands, The Dave Liles Band and The Overdrive Band.
“We’ve spent countless hours planning for this year’s show and are looking forward to seeing it all come to fruition,” Hull said. “Seeing the positive impact on our local economy will be the most lucrative reward. The town and the festival will be buzzing on Sept. 4.
“The village of West Liberty and the West Liberty Lions Club have been incredibly helpful and supportive, and we want them to see a large monetary impact.”
CLCS is focused on giving back, and the organization donated the first $1,000 raised to the CLCS Cares 50/50 fundraiser raffle to benefit the West Liberty-Salem Fieldhouse Fund. The group also will donate to the WL-S schools sophomore class for clean-up duties during the event.
“This isn’t about getting rich,” co-founder Jeremy LeVan said. “This is about our community and how we can positively impact it.”
Sunday evening, Shine FM and ColePak present a free concert during the festival, beginning with Jordan St. Cyr at 7 p.m.
Then We The Kindgom takes the stage at 7:45 p.m. to finish out the evening.
