A Springfield woman was charged Thursday with trafficking in drugs and possession of cocaine during a Logan County Unified Drug Task Force drug enforcement operation in the southern region of Logan County.
Latorya L. Bibbs, 36, was placed under arrest and lodged in the Logan County Jail following a traffic stop about 5:15 p.m. on U.S. Route 68 at State Route 508.
Task Force members observed a vehicle that had extremely dark window tint and initiated the stop. The driver, Bibbs, was found to have a suspended driver’s license.
Bibbs was asked if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle and she admitted there was marijuana inside the vehicle. When asked if there was anything else illegal, Task Force members said she began to cry while admitting there were drugs inside the glove box.
A probable cause search was conducted. A large amount of crack cocaine, valued at over $4,000 dollars, was located inside the glove box. Bibbs admitted that she was headed to Bellefontaine to deliver the crack cocaine.
Bibbs was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
The Logan County Unified Drug Task Force is comprised of the DeGraff Police Department, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, the Russells Point Police Department, the Washington Township Police Department and the West Liberty Police Department.
Over the last 45 day, the Task Force has made 12 arrest and seized more than four pounds of illegal narcotics across the county.
The latest arrest is “just another example of the current drug problem within the Logan County and the commitment being made by the participating agencies to curb the flow of illegal narcotics coming into the county,” officials said in a release.
