The Lakeview Business Group is excited to share its 2021 Lakeview Christmas in the Village event, set for Saturday, Dec. 4.
Festivities begin at 8 a.m. with Breakfast with Santa at the Amvets Post 39. Santa will depart around 9:30 a.m. so he can stroll to town in style on the firetruck during the annual parade.
The village parade begins promptly at 10 a.m. with the theme, “Dreaming of a White Christmas.”
While area families line the streets of downtown Lakeview waiting on the parade to start, they can partake of hot cocoa and treats from the concessionaires who will be onsite throughout the day.
Residents also can enjoy the petting zoo that features live nativity animals and a humped camel. Free pony rides also take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Once the parade is complete, Santa will do the honors of lighting the village tree. After a short ceremony, he will make his way to Osgood Bank, 165 E. Lake St., Lakeview, for photos with area children.
The holiday event is hosted rain or shine, as the excitement continues indoors and outside. Carolers from the Indian Lake Middle School show choir will perform, and wagon rides will be offered through the village by volunteers and the Indian Lake High School FFA.
Boutique shopping is available and a scavenger hunt also is part of the festivities, with individuals invited to stop by participating businesses to pick up the entry form. Follow the directions, have fun exploring local businesses in Lakeview and be entered for a chance to win a variety of prizes at the gift giveaway.
The scavenger hunt drawing will be conducted at the new Lakeview firehouse, with a 2 p.m. start time, where participants must be present to win.
Santa’s Workshop also is offered as part of a three-day event, located in the Young at Heart building, 490 W. Lake St., Lakeview. Little ones can redeem their Santa Bucks or shop with real cash to purchase gifts for friends and family, with Elves will be on hand to provide assistance.
Workshop hours from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The Lakeview Business Group expressed appreciation to all of the volunteers and local support to make this event happen.
“Your time and generous donations are a true blessing to the community,” representatives said.
“The Village of Lakeview is looking forward to seeing you downtown on Saturday, Dec. 4.”
