A new member joined the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center Board of Education during a regular meeting Wednesday.
Doug Chivington was sworn in as the newest member of the Hi-Point school board. Mr. Chivington is a Logan County resident, but he serves on the Marysville Exempted Village Schools board, and will represent Marysville schools.
In personnel matters, Cythia Corwin was approved as a substitute bus driver.
A donation of 65 projectors and two laptops to Benjamin Logan Schools was approved. Additionally, 130 laptops were donated to Marysville schools to be used for parts.
The school board has closed on a 2.81-acre parcel of land adjacent to campus on State Route 540. Purchase of the land was first reported Dec. 17. Cost to buy the land totaled $215,000.
The district has no immediate plans for that plot, but Superintendent Dr. Rick Smith has said the school district owns all the tracts of lands surrounding that one, and the district didn’t want to risk losing out on the land later on.
The next regular meeting is set for 7 p.m. March 23.
