It was a day to remember for Bellefontaine’s Kayla Watkins and Indian Lake’s Regan Ross at the Riverside Lady Pirate Invitational at Cherokee Hills Golf Course on Tuesday.
Watkins took medalist honors after shooting a school-record 78. That score broke the previous 18-hole best score of 80 that Watkins held along with Samantha McLaughlin.
Ross also broke a school record for Indian Lake, carding a round of 79 to finish as the number-two individual behind Watkins.
Ft. Loramie won the 10-team tournament with a team total of 350. Bellefontaine was second with 376, Miami East finished third with 401, Indian Lake was fourth with 410 and Russia was fifth with 438.
The host Pirates took eighth with 455.
Aiding the runner-up finish for the Chiefs were Kyndal Newkirk with a 96, Lexi Buffkin with a 100, Emily Taylor with a 102 and Morgan Burden with 112.
Bree Stid contributed a personal-best round of 97 for the Lakers. Kayla Cummins shot 107, Lauren Barhorst had a 127 and Marissa Shields shot 149.
For the Lakers, Mia Stallard led the way with a 99. Roz Estep had a 110, Malaina Jenkins shot a 121 and Maddie Sanford added a 125.
Pirates compete at Covington Invite
Riverside’s girls golf team was also in action Monday at the Covington Lady Bucc Pink Out Invitational.
The Pirates placed eighth out of 14 teams with a 446.
Mia Stallard lee Riverside with a 99, Roz Estep had a 104, Maddie Sanford shot 115 and Malaina Jenkins had 128.
Lakers top Botkins
Indian Lake’s girls golf team defeated Botkins 195-248 on Monday at Cherokee Hills.
Regan Ross led the Lakers with a 37. Kayla Cummins and Bree Stid both shot 49s and Lauren Barhorst added a 60.
