ANGELO |
Bellefontaine’s Ross Angelo is a firm believer in what is going on in the soccer program at Wittenberg University.
Angelo, a senior at BHS, recently decided on Wittenberg to continue his academic and soccer careers.
“It is really close to home and they have a new coach in Dwight Burgess, who had a great coaching career at Capital,” said Angelo. “He has also worked for the Columbus Crew. He is going to bring great things to Wittenberg. I can’t wait to be part of his program.”
Burgess has a diverse soccer background. He was an assistant coach at Ohio State and coached Capital’s men’s program for 10 years and the women’s team for eight years. He has also been a television and radio broadcaster for Columbus Crew games as well as many international events.
The attraction of playing for Burgess led to Angelo picking the Tigers over Otterbein, Findlay, Muskingum and Defiance.
“It is a great fit for Ross,” said Bellefontaine head coach Steve Henry. “Ross is really an intelligent student, so scholastically it is going to help him be successful. As for soccer, a smaller school is going to provide a terrific experience for Ross over the time there.”
