Bellefontaine’s boys tennis team got a late start Friday because of a passing rain shower, but was able to squeeze in a 3-2 victory over visiting Marion Harding in non-league action.
The Chiefs are now 5-2 on the season.
Bellefontaine won a pair of singles matches and a doubles match to get the victory.
The Chiefs’ Harsh Bakshi defeated Brady Wink 6-3, 6-0 at first singles and Bellefontaine’s Truman Howell won 6-1, 6-2 over Alexander Lisiticki at third singles.
At second doubles, Bellefontaine’s Abe Burhanna and Drew Phillips prevailed 6-4, 6-4 over Asa Denen and Ryan Newsome.
Bellefontaine’s Noah Burhanna was defeated by Matevsz Lisiticki 6-4, 6-3 at second singles and the Chiefs’ Dakota Shell and Trey Taylor were defeated 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 at second doubles.
There were two junior varsity doubles matches played Friday. The Chiefs’ Elijah Merrin and Garrett Brede won 4-1 over Owen Williams and Choro Mull, while Quinten Neer and Will Patterson were defeated 7-6 by Austin Valentine and Alex Kill.
Bellefontaine returns to the court Monday at Wapakoneta.
