Raiders’ Arn, Lakers’ Tavenner earn top league honors
It was a day to remember for the area’s swimmers at the Central Buckeye Conference meet on Saturday.
Bellefontaine’s girls swim team won the CBC Kenton Trail division championship for the first time, while the Chieftain boys finished third overall (there is only one division for the boys).
“It was truly priceless to see the swimmers’ excitement and fire throughout the entire meet,” said Bellefontaine head coach Sharon Lewis. “Our team came out huge with many first-place finishes, meet records, and multiple scorers per event to be able to finish where we did. I could not be more proud of this group of student-athletes. Their drive and support for each other had no bounds (Saturday). They knew the meet would be close and that it would take every swimmer in order to have a chance at top three for boys and a championship for girls, and they definitely stepped up to the challenge.”
Benjamin Logan’s Macy Arn and Indian Lake’s Skyler Tavenner also had a strong showing as they were tabbed the female and male swimmer of the year for their divisions.
Bellefontaine’s girls tallied 276 points to easily outdistance second-place Tippecanoe (236). Springfield Shawnee was third (171). Ben Logan finished eighth overall.
