Bellefontaine’s boys soccer team battled visiting Kenton to a 1-1 tie on Friday night in the season opener at AcuSport Stadium.
“Both teams played very well with high intensity the entire game,” said BHS boys head coach Jeff Turner. “I’m excited to see what this group of guys will do this year.”
The Chieftains took a 1-0 lead in the first half off a goal from Dakota Shell. with an assist from Isaiah Henry.
The Wildcats were able to rally in the second half with a goal and tie the game 1-1.
Neither team was able to score again before the end of regulation.
Bellefontaine hosts Botkins on Tuesday for a non-league game.
Kenton clips BHS girls
Bellefontaine’s girls soccer team was clipped by visiting Kenton 1-0 on Friday night in the season opener at AcuSport Stadium.
“This was a solid start for us despite the loss,” said BHS girls head coach Kate Smith.
“The team is ready to prepare for Ben Logan in a week.”
The first half ended in a scoreless tie with the Chiefs picking up momentum just before halftime.
However, the Wildcats were able to score early in the second half to take a 1-0 lead. Bellefontaine had some opportunities to even the score, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Defensively, Lindsey Heminger made 13 saves.
Bellefontaine travels to Benjamin Logan on Monday, Aug. 31 for a local matchup.
