Bellefontaine’s Liam Harris and Indian Lake’s Lane McPherson showed Thursday why they are considered two of the top golfers in the Central Buckeye Conference.
Harris, a senior, tied a school record for nine holes with a 33 on the front nine at Cherokee Hills Golf Course and finished with a 73 during the CBC preseason tournament.
Also a senior, McPherson shot a 75 for the Lakers.
Harris and McPherson were the CBC golfers of the year last year in their respective divisions.
McPherson helped the Lakers to a second-place finish in the Mad River division. They shot a 342 as a team. Graham won the division with a 319.
Tyler Michael aided the Lakers with an 86, Camden Tuttle shot 88, Maddux Hall had a 93, Ethan Elbert carded a 100 and Lukas Wisner added 103.
Ben Logan finished fifth in the MR division with a 402.
Jacob Mitchell led the Raiders with an 88. Aiden Elsass shot a 97, Luke McKenrick had a 93, Caleb Knight shot 124 and Gage Hamm added a 133.
Jonathan Alder ran away with the KT title after shooting 291.
Shawnee was second with a 357 and Bellefontaine was third with a 367.
Austin Hammond contributed a 93 for the Chiefs, Joe Boop shot 95, Kody Watts had 106 and Rory Pierce finished with 114.
Jonathan Alder’s Brady Fox was the medalist in the KT division with a 70 and Graham’s Grant Woodruff shot 70 to lead the MR division.
Riverside boys edged by JC
Host Jackson Center clipped Riverside 182-183 in a boys golf match Thursday at Shelby Oaks Golf Course.
The Pirates’ Brody Rhoads was the medalist with a 40. Jayden Burchett followed with a 41, Drew Jones shot 47, Reece Jenkins had a 54 and Jaxon Woods and Owen Holycross shot 56.
Carson Regula led the Tigers with a 41.
