It was not a performance Bellefontaine was hoping for as a team at the Division I sectional bowling tournament at Poelking South, but the Chiefs did advance a bowler to the district tourney.
Bellefontaine’s Hannah Davis advanced to the districts as an individual after rolling games of 214, 143 and 208 for a 565 series.
“We had high hopes of making it to districts as a team,” said BHS coach Jane Kline. “It was disappointing for all of us, but I am very proud of our girls. They worked so hard, we just ran out of gas during the last three baker games.”
The Chiefs’ Haley Watkins added games of 168, 149 and 190 for a 507 series.
The top nine teams advanced to the district tourney. Bellefontaine finished 12th with a 3,363.
Centerville won the girls Division I sectional with a 3,974. Beavercreek was second with 3,859, Troy took third with 3,604, Wayne was fourth with 3,564 and Springfield was fifth with 3,550.
Also qualifying to districts were Butler (3,504), Fairmont (3,472), Sidney (3,459) and Miamisburg (3,451).
On the boys side, Bellefontaine’s boys battled the flu during the week and two of their normal starters were plagued by sickness in Wednesday’s Division I sectional. The Chiefs took 11th with a score of 3,343.
Hayden Salyer had a 217 game for the Chiefs, Anthony Tolliver had a 190 game, Noah Jackson rolled a 176 game and Daniel Weikart had a 175 game.
Centerville won the Division I boys sectional tournament with a 3,868. Wayne was second with 3,862, Beavercreek took third with a 3,829, Kettering Fairmont was fourth with 3,703 and Springfield was fifth with a 3,616.
Also qualifying to the districts were Sidney (3,488), Miamisburg (3,416), Tecumseh (3,390) and Fairborn (3,366).
