Charles G. Turner, 84, of Bellefontaine, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at the Stonespring Care Center of Vandalia, with his family at his side.
Charles was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Bellefontaine, a son of Clayton Myron and Nellie Mae Love Turner.
On Nov. 26, 1948, he married Mary Frances Meade, and they were married 67 years. Also surviving are daughters, Mary Suzanne (James) Johnson, Marta Kay (Jerry) Cline and Polly Jane (Steve) Smith; sons, Charles G. (Hsin) Turner II, Joseph Meade (Amy) Turner and Jonathan Clay (Aimee) Turner; grandchildren, James Robert (Sarah) Johnson, Shelsea Lea Johnson, Julia Lyn Johnson, Jordan Lee Cline, Whitni Christine (Tyler) Drewes, Abby Catherine (Jaime) Urbina, Taylor Steven Smith, Brittany Hope Turner, Jonathan Wyatt Turner, Charles G. Turner III, Maya Carrie Turner and Evan Lee Turner; 11 great-grandchildren, Aaron Losey, Ayanna Madison, Aquavee Madison, Agbeyenu Madison, Leemu Madison, Megan Johnson, Riley Johnson, Owen Johnson, Haven Turner, Dahlia Turner and Everly Drewes; his sisters, Norma Steinhelfer and Janet Brunner; and brother, William “Bill” Turner. Other survivors include a wonderful family friend, Alison Luhn; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucinda Erwin; and two brothers, Clayton M. Turner and Robert C. Turner.
He was a family man who was hard working and meticulous with everything he accomplished
Charles retired from International Harvester of Springfield, with 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Air Force. He was a member American Legion and the Church of the Open Bible.
The Rev. Dr. John K. Cairns Jr., nephew of Charles and Mary, officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Jennings Farley Funeral Home and Crematory, West Liberty, where visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 18. Burial is in Highland Memorial Cemetery with Wright Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard performing military honors.
