WL-Salem is battle tested going into regionals
West Liberty-Salem’s girls basketball is not afraid of competition.
The Tigers showed that this season with a grueling non-league schedule, which included games against Division II powers Tippecanoe and Kenton Ridge and perennial Division IV power Tri-Village.
WL-Salem also played a Benjamin Logan squad that went undefeated in the Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division.
“We wanted to beef up our schedule so we would be prepared for the caliber of teams we would see in the tournament,” said WL-Salem head coach Dennis McIntosh after his team handled Cincinnati Madeira on Saturday in the Division III district title game. “We thought we might have to sacrifice a few losses, but felt like it would make us better in the long run.”
