Early summer deadlines loom for the village of DeGraff as it prepares to apply for a few hundred thousand dollars in public funding to shore up basic infrastructure and park amenities.
A fourth public information session staged Thursday at the municipal building brought into clearer focus the list of projects to round out a Community Development Block Grant application that could bring as much as $500,000 into the village over a two-year cycle.
Currently, there are seven community projects that residents and village officials have identified as areas of need, according to notes prepared Thursday by village clerk Linda Harford.
Additional gravel parking at the village park has long been a council priority, and likely finds its way into this grant request. The village also seeks to have roofs on the shelter houses and concession stands replaced. A set of lights for the middle ball diamond is a possibility, too, along with an expansion of the existing basketball court.
Infrastructure needs include reconstructing Boggs Street, replacing a fire hydrant at Township Road 43, repairing four water valves at the water treatment plant and improvements to water drainage at the intersection of State Route 235 and Main Street are also being considered.
