Calvary Christian School and its Board of Education announce the new hire of an assistant head of school, Dr. Dan Bragg, beginning with the upcoming 2021-22 school year.
“We are so excited about what God is doing at CCS,” said Ryan Hyde, CCS head of school said. “We are heading into the coming school year with record enrollment (310 pre-k through 12th grade to date). We are going through several transitions considering the recent State of Ohio (ODE) accreditation, potential affiliation with OHSAA for sports, researching building projects, and many other new program initiatives.
“With all of these transitions and programs, it was known that additional staff was going to become necessary.
“After a conversation with the School Board President, it was noted that longtime Christian educator, Dan Bragg, had moved back to the home farm and was in the area. Several conversations and a lot of thinking and envisioning about some of the next steps and it appeared to be a great match.”
Dr. Bragg grew up on a family farm just outside of West Liberty and previously served as a school superintendent at Legacy Christian Academy in southwest Ohio from 2013 to 2019. He also led the Christian Schools at Emmanuel Christian Academy in Springfield, Cincinnati Christian, Toledo Christian, and was a principal, teacher, and coach at Troy Christian and Dayton Christian.
“I did not know I was going to find a leader and a school that so much matched the heartbeat of my career, right here in Logan county. It was crazy, it seemed like Ryan could finish my sentences,” Dr. Bragg said.
“I was looking into a post-administration career as an Intervention Specialist and teaching in the public school.”
The new CCS hire was previously working for the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center and assigned to the high school multiple disabilities program at Jackson Center.
“But after several great conversations with Ryan and various family members, and much prayer, it was clear to me that God has one more assignment for me in Christian education and I could not be more thrilled,” he said.
Dr. Bragg’s father, Roy, has been a part of Calvary Baptist Church for the past 40 years. His sister, Sandy, is the church secretary. His brother, Gary, has been pastor at Harvest Baptist Church in Wapakoneta for over 30 years.
His sister, Cindy, passed away in 1997 but left six children that lived and worked in Logan County over the years.
During his college years at Taylor University, he met his wife, Annette, and they have been married for 36 years. Together, they raised four boys and currently have seven grandchildren.
Dr. Bragg earned his doctorate of education in educational leadership at Liberty University.
Mr. Hyde has big plans for the new assistant administrator.
“He will be teaching a few classes, helping me with development and fundraising, improving the admissions process, growing our intervention program, and leading us through programming and use of state funding made available by the new accreditation.
“He also is super passionate and excited about starting a new cross country program in the fall as well as coaching track.”
