A case has been forwarded to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office for review of charges against a named suspect, a 40-year-old Arcanum man, including a felony counts of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and obstructing official business, related to a pursuit with law enforcement Wednesday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office observed a speed violation with the suspect’s westbound vehicle about 7:35 p.m. on U.S. Route 33 near East Liberty and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
However, deputies said the operator accelerated and failed to yield to the emergency lights and audible siren. Other eastbound traffic was minimal, and the suspect vehicle reached speeds of approximately 104 mph, deputies said.
Deputies notified dispatchers and asked them to notify the Union County Sheriff’s Office about the situation.
While continuing westbound along U.S. 33 into Union County, the suspect vehicle reportedly exited at State Route 245 headed to Marysville. The pursuit was terminated by law enforcement at S.R. 245 and west Fifth Street in Marysville due to heavy traffic flow and unsafe speeds.
Upon further investigation, deputies learned that the same vehicle fled from troopers of the Xenia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol in a May 21 traffic stop. Investigation continues.
