Timothy K. Holbert, 51, of Fairborn, was charged with domestic violence as a result of an incident late Friday evening at Flip Flop Cove Campground, 15882 N. State Route 235, Belle Center.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 11:50 p.m. to lot 112 on a report of Holbert’s wife stating he had been acting violently toward her.
His wife told deputies that during an argument, Holbert had grabbed her around the neck and then threw her to the ground.
Holbert told deputies that his wife had gotten in his face that night and that he had pushed her away several times. Deputies did not observe any injuries to the defendant or his wife, and reportedly observed an odor of alcohol on both parties.
The defendant was placed under arrest and was transported to the Logan County Jail.
• Cayde S. Neeley, 19, of 400 Lincoln Boulevard, Apt. 36, Russells Point, was charged with domestic violence Thursday as a result of an incident at his residence.
Deputies responded about 12:30 p.m. to his address on a domestic violence call. Neeley told deputies that he and his live-in girlfriend had been arguing and that he had placed his arms around her chest and possibly her neck.
Deputies spoke with his girlfriend over the phone, and she said she struck Neeley during the argument, and then he reportedly choked her by grabbing her neck and then forced her to the floor.
His girlfriend had left the residence and was in Bellefontaine, and she met with Bellefontaine Police Department officers there. Officers reportedly observed “finger marks” to her throat.
The defendant was placed under arrest and was lodged in the jail. A report also has been forwarded to the Bellefontaine Municipal Prosecutor’s Office for a review of his girlfriend’s admitted actions of striking Neeley’s face.
8-year-old ATV operator crashes into gas meter
James A. Haynes, 58, of Lakeview, was cited for wrongful entrustment as a result of a crash Friday evening involving his 8-year-old son operating his all-terrain vehicle.
The 8-year-old boy was operating the westbound ATV about 8:50 p.m. in the 9030 block of Queen Road when he drove off the left side of the road to turn around and lost control, striking a Columbia Gas meter, causing gas to emit into the air. No damage was reported to the ATV.
Suspect charged with criminal damaging
Colton R. Gamble, 22, of LaRue, was issued a summons for criminal damaging as a result of an incident early Saturday morning at Froggy’s at the Lake, 11065 Township Road 293, Lakeview.
Deputies were dispatched about 12:45 a.m. to the bar in reference to a fight involving multiple people. The fight reportedly broke up before deputies arrived, but witnesses stated that one of the involved individuals now was striking a boundary fence in the parking lot.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they observed the damage to the fence and also a torn black shirt next to the fence.
Deputies located Gamble in a vehicle in the area of Shoreline Drive and observed that the defendant was not wearing a shirt and that he had a small injury to his chest. He told deputies that the black shirt was his, and that he struck the boundary fence several times in frustration over the fight. He was issued the summons and released.
• Stephen B. Smith, 60, of 230 State Route 720, Lakeview, was issued a summons for disorderly conduct as a result of a neighbor dispute Saturday.
Deputies were dispatched to 235 S.R. 720, Lakeview, and spoke with Kristina Gressner, who said Smith had yelled racial slurs at her 19-year-old daughter that day while she was trying to leave for work.
Smith said the 19-year-old had yelled at him while she was outside and then he had used the racial slurs. He was issued the summons and advised not to have contact with the other parties.
Summonses issued following underage drinking incident
Michael D. Weaks, 43, of 829 S. County Road 5, Zanesfield, and his girlfriend, Erika Cummins, 37, of 3273 County Road 105, Belle Center, each were issued summonses for offenses involving underage persons relating to teens drinking alcohol at Weaks’ property during a graduation party.
Deputies were dispatched about 1:20 a.m. Sunday to the C.R. 5 address on a report of screaming coming from the residence.
When deputies entered the property, they observed 10 to 15 teenagers standing in the driveway start running to the rear of the property out of view.
Weaks’ son told deputies his graduation party was taking place that night. Deputies also spoke with Cummins and observed that she had a strong odor of alcohol on her person.
Deputies observed that approximately 10 unoccupied vehicles were parked at the residence and located a beer pong table at the rear of the property near a bonfire, along with open and empty containers of beer.
They also attempted to speak with individuals who were hiding in the wooded area, but they were unable to locate them at the time.
Weaks reportedly had gone to bed, but he came outside and spoke with deputies. He also had a strong odor of alcohol on his person, deputies said, and stated he was not aware that underage individuals had been drinking on the property.
Weaks and Cummins were issued the summonses.
Also while deputies were at the property, they observed a parked vehicle that had an odor of marijuana. During a vehicle search, deputies recovered a box of beer, along suspected marijuana. Weaks said he was not familiar with this vehicle, and it was towed from the scene.
Later in the day Sunday, the vehicle occupant, Zayne Reed, 18, of 9419 Thompson Road, West Liberty, was issued a summons for possession of marijuana after he called the sheriff’s office to check on the vehicle.
