Calvary Christian’s girls basketball team beat DePaul Cristo Rey of Cincinnati 55-31. The Spartans are now 21-3 overall and 9-1 in the OVCC.
The Spartans celebrated their seniors Ruth and Marjorie Boy, Mataya Penhorwood and Ellie Young.
Calvary jumped out fast in the first quarter and DePaul had trouble against Calvary’s defense as the Spartans led 16-7 to end the first quarter.
Calvary went on to lead 27-14 at halftime. The Spartans continued to pull away in the second half.
“We have a very special senior class and this was a great way to send them out,” said Calvary coach Eli Carter. “The gym was packed and the environment was special. These seniors have won over 80 games throughout their careers and I’m going to personally struggle knowing that I won’t coach them next year. This group has laid the foundation of success, not only on the court but off the court.”
Calvary’s Elisha Carter led all scorers with 29 points and seven rebounds. Hannah Marlow scored eight points and had seven rebounds and Ruth Boy added six points.
