Jessie Dodson, last year’s grand champion of the adult baked cake competition, gravitated toward the chocolate chip cookie dough cake made by West Mansfield resident Cindy Corwin as last year’s winner named the 2016 grand champion.

“The appearance of this cake is very pretty,” said Miss Dodson. “It is very moist, has good consistency; the icing is pretty sweet, but I like sweet,” said Miss. Dodson.
Mrs. Corwin took a break from entering her baked goods into the fair in 2006 and this year was her first entry in 10 years.
“I’m flabbergasted,’ said Mrs. Corwin. “It must be beginner’s luck … for this competition anyway.”
Her grandmother, the late Leota Reisinger, was the woman who introduced her to baking.
“I made everything with her,” said Mrs. Corwin. “She liked to make pies. Grandpa (the late Lloyd Reisinger) always liked them.”
