Joshua Knauff, 44, of South Salem, and his brother Jonathan Knauff, 47, of Brainbridge were arrested for felony counts of possession of drugs following a Monday evening traffic stop.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patrol about 6:20 p.m. observed a suspicious vehicle pull into a home on Township Road 95. Officers then observed two male subjects exit the vehicle and approach the home.
After a short time, the two men returned to the vehicle and backed down the driveway out of the officers’ view.
Contact was made with the homeowner, who advised she did not know the subjects who were on her property.
Officers made contact with the two defendants, identifying the driver as Joshua and the passenger as Jonathan. Officers observed the odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle. Joshua advised officers that their vehicle was having problems.
Both men were found to have several warrants for their arrest. Joshua was asked to exit the vehicle, advised of the warrants and placed under arrest.
Jonathan was asked to exit the vehicle and initially advised officer his name was not Jonathan it was “Matthew Collins.” However, officers confirmed his identity as Jonathan Knauff.
A search of the vehicle revealed a bag of methamphetamine weighing 2.99 grams, pill crushers, marijuana and several pills.
Both men were transported to the Logan County Jail, and are also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Jonathan also faces an identity fraud charge.
• Jacob Troy Mellon, 30, of Riverside, was charged with a felony count of possession of drugs during a Monday afternoon traffic stop.
Officers on patrol about 3:15 p.m. in the area of State Route 235 and County Road 13 observed a white Pontiac with an expired registration and initiated the stop.
Officers observed the odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle. Mellon was advised a K9 Bruno would be summoned to the scene and he then told officers he had two marijuana vape devices in the center consul of the vehicle and that was all he had.
Officers conducted a search of the vehicle, locating the two marijuana vape devices.
Officers also located a bookbag that contained three containers of hashish oil. The defedant advised officers he purchased the hashish oil on the north side of Indian Lake, and then changed his story, stating he went to Michigan and picked it up.
Mellon was transported to the jail and charged with felony drug possession.
