Judge Kevin P. Braig of the Logan County Court of Common Pleas Tuesday sentenced Erica J. Breyman to three consecutive 12-month prison terms on her convictions on four counts of grand theft of a motor vehicle, felonies of the fourth-degree, and two counts of theft, felonies of the fifth-degree.
The court also ordered Breyman, 40, to pay more than $6,000 in restitution to two victims.
The State of Ohio and her counsel Jim Gudgel recommended the court sentence Breyman to community control, including a term at the Worth Center Community-Based Correction Facility.
A term at the Worth Center is typically six months. The court decided that the recommended sentence did not go far enough, considering Breyman committed all the offenses over a 12-month period of time. Breyman also jumped a furlough that the Court granted to her prior to the sentencing hearing so that she could attend to personal matters.
The court considered the purposes and principles of sentencing set forth in the Ohio Revised Code and determined that the three-year prison sentence was the more appropriate sanction.
