Two boys were charged with delinquency theft Wednesday when they attempted to steal $28.50 in gum and candy from Speedway, 600 E. Sandusky Ave., around 5:30 p.m.
Donald E. Hicks, 14, of 547 E. Columbus Ave., Apt. 3, and his 12-year-old accomplice were at the counter when officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department arrived. The younger boy’s coat pockets were bulging and full of the stolen merchandise.
The boys were released to a parent.
Motorists cited in crashes
Steven A. Akers, 62, of Bellefontaine, was cited for an improper left turn after a 3:05 p.m. crash Wednesday at Main Street and Washington Avenue.
He was southbound in a pickup truck and turned left into the path of a northbound car operated by Phillip A.W. Pulfer, 24, of Bellefontaine. Damage was heavy to the vehicles.
A Bellefontaine squad responded to the scene, but no injuries were noted in the crash report.
• Kathleen M. Notestine, 58, of Bellefontaine, was cited Wednesday for failure to control.
She was operating an eastbound car on High Avenue around 11:40 a.m. and hit a utility pole while turning northbound on Park Street. Damage was light.
