Myles Bowers, Benjamin Logan High School director of jazz band, pep band and marching band, has been honored as a National Society of High School Scholars’ Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction.
Each year, members of the NSHSS are invited to nominate the educator who has made the most significant contribution to their academic career for this honor. The award “recognizes exemplary educators whose passion and devotion inspire their students to grow and develop as scholars, leaders and citizens.”
Bowers has been teaching at BLHS for 11 years. In addition to band, he teaches Music Tech, American Pop, and Music Theory, and is the adviser for the Tri-M honorary music organization
“I am honored to be named a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction. Education is about the students and I am thankful that I get to teach the students at Benjamin Logan every day,” he said.
He is the second BLHS teacher receiving the honor this school year, as Michelle “Shelly” Lane also received this distinction, as reported in the Examiner earlier this week.
