Many people in Logan County are celebrating as the state health mandates have been lifted in Ohio this month.
Recently, Jacob Dew and Kate Hemphill collaborated with the Logan County Board of Developmental Disabiltiies Community First Facilitator and Aktion Club adviser, Kelli Bader, for a project to thank community members and draw attention to the level of personal responsibility practiced by county residents.
They did this by delivering flowers from the Logan County Board of DD Foundation Annual Flower Sale to 180 people in Logan County.
Hemphill and Dew’s mission was to spread a smile and express appreciation for persevering through the pandemic period where they took steps to keep themselves and others as healthy as they could.
The pair took flowers to various places where people supported by the Logan County Board of DD work, play, socialize, volunteer, shop, and worship.
“Many people are not aware of how important nonverbal communication cues are to people and when the masks went on and distance was increased, this left so many people not understanding, lonely, and confused. We appreciate what our community did to keep themselves safe and others,” Bader said.
A poem was included with the flowers that read: A gift of flowers from our sale; Saying thank-you is our tale; For every day your smile you hid; While doing all that you did; You kept our folks healthy and fine; The way you did it was sublime; LCBDD is forever in your debt; For keeping folks healthy there is no regret; It’s time to remove these masks, no sneeze or achoo; As we breathe in deeply and say a huge thank you!
