Seventh-grader Graham Lotts, right, was named the Bellefontaine Middle School spelling bee champion Monday, and eighth-grader Theo Reminder, left, was named the runner-up during the contest featuring a total of 29 students. In round 17, Graham correctly spelled the word “derogatory” to become the champion for the school. He and runner-up Theo qualified to represent BMS at the Logan County Spelling Bee in January. Graham will also take an online test that month to try to continue toward the Scripps National Spelling Bee. (BELLEFONTAINE SCHOOLS PHOTO)
