The mask mandate at Bellefontaine Middle School has been extended through Wednesday, Sept. 29, officials reported Friday.
Bellefontaine Superintendent Brad Hall contacted the Logan County Health District about the mandate.
“The district has seen the number of cases at the middle school level off and we are hopeful that our COVID positive numbers will drop to the point where masks can once again be optional,” he said. “Your patience and support is appreciated very much.”
The mask mandate at BMS went into effect Sept. 1. The health district issued the order, and officials noted that the mask mandate was an alternative to the district being forced to temporarily close the building.
