Benjamin Logan Middle School’s Team United Kingdom won an Outstanding Resolution Award at the Junior Ohio Model United Nations competition this week in Columbus.

Team United Kingdom’s resolution selected for further debate in the Human Rights Council. Of the 158 resolutions presented this year, the United Kingdom was one of 12 nations awarded the Outstanding Resolution trophy to recognize the superior quality of their resolution.
United Kingdom delegation members include Anna Blake, Kerry Copenhaver, Ashley Gantt, Kenna Hone, Averi Lane, Hannah Miller, Samantha Ruggieri and Annika Simovart.
Two other delegations of BLMS students also competed at the event — Team Micronesia and Team Vietnam.
For the delegation of Micronesia, the students involved were Jamie Gill, Joseph Gulick, Mason Hammer, Tomas Kennedy, Jacob McKenrick, Blake Peterson, and Ethan Ricketts. For the nation of Vietnam, the student members were Ben Coffield, T.J. Forsythe, Kamryn Mathys, Vance McClanahan, Ammon Miller, Elijah Ruggieri, Mailiis Simovart, and Nicholas Willoby. Advisers are Bobby Gill and Amy McCormick.
This year’s Junior OMUN conference included more than 1,200 student delegates from across the state, the largest number of student participants to date.
