Benjamin Logan’s boys track and field team picked up a major momentum boost Friday by winning the Waynesfield-Goshen Tiger Invitational.
The Raiders won the 11-team meet handily with 160 points. The Raiders won nine events on the day. Indian Lake was runner-up with 99 points and Lima Perry took third with 78 points. Ridgemont finished 11th with 20.5 points.
Kalida won the girls 12-team meet with 126 points, Carey was runner-up with 107 points, Spencerville took third with 99 points and Indian Lake was fourth with 82.5 points. Ben Logan finished in sixth with 73.5 points, Ridgemont was eighth with 37 points and Riverside came in 10th with 8.5 points.
Boys results
Ben Logan’s boys were anchored by wins from all four of their relay teams. That included the 400 relay of Sam Whitten, Max Leezer, Gavin Gibson and Hunter Lattimer (45.8), the 800 relay of Lattimer, Leezer, Gibson and Mitch Vance (1:36.4), the 1,600 relay of Tucker Munz, Lattimer, Vance and Tayte Williamson (3:38.6) and the 3,200 relay of Munz, Williamson, Keaghan Stahler and Blake Rhoades (8:55.6).
Individual wins came from Marshall Jackson in the discus (158-4) and shot put (47-7 1/4), Vance in the 200 (24.09) and 400 (53.4) and Davontae Fahle in the long jump (19-10 1/2).
Earning runner-up finishes were Fahle in the high jump (5-8) and the triple jump with a new school record of 40-7 1/2, Gabe Hemmelgarn in the discus (151-2) and Jace Wical in the pole vault (13-0).
Taking third was Alec Rodenberger in the triple jump (37-9.25) and taking fourth was Gibson in the 100 (11.8).
Coming in fifth was Munz in the high jump (5-4), Leezer in the 200 (24.5) and Stahler in the 400 (55.5), while sixth-place efforts came from Evan Carpenter in the pole vault (9-6), Munz in the 800 (2:12.7) and Andrew Hughes in the 3,200 (11:21.3).
Dustin Franks powered Indian Lake’s boys by winning four events and scoring 40 points. He took first in the triple jump with a new stadium record (41-2), high jump (5-10), 110 hurdles (15.9) and 300 hurdles (42.5).
Placing third were Caiden Gaunt in the long jump (19-3), Reid Vance in the 400 (time not available) and Nate Cummins in the 3,200 (10:53).
Coming in fourth were Brandan Rettig in the shot put (43-3) and discus (136-1), Kaleb Hurley in the triple jump (35-8.5) and Brant Parsell in the 110 hurdles (17.6)
Taking fifth were Gaunt in the high jump (5-4) and the 800 relay of Gaunt, Colin Burba, Vance and Ian Wischmeyer (9:31), while sixth-place efforts came from Hurley in the long jump (18-1.75), the 400 relay of Hurley, Burba, Eli Slagle and Reid Notestine (48.6) and the 1,600 relay of Vance, Parsell, Wischmeyer and Notestine (3:52).
Ridgemont was sparked by a runner-up finish from Jeb Patterson in the 300 hurdles (43.8) and a fourth-place finish from Dominic Newland in the pole vault (10-0).
Finishing in fifth was Weston McKinley in the high jump (5-4), while sixth-place efforts came from Michael Dilbone in the pole vault (9-6) and the 400 relay of Clayton Patterson, Clayton Patterson, Jeb Patterson and Donovan Brose (48.0).
Girls results
Allexxie West led the Laker girls by winning the triple jump (32-5) with a runner-up finish coming from Reece Martin in the 100 hurdles (16.7).
Third-place finishes came from West in the long jump (14-5), the 400 relay of West, Raelyn Parsell, Jalan Martin and Ava Huffman (53.2), the 800 relay of Elayna Richardson, Huffman, Jalan martin and Reece Martin (1:54) and the 3,200 relay of Ella Wagner, Rachel Wahl, Chloe Sparks and KaiLea Miller (10:59) and the 3200 relay of Ella Wagner, Rachel Wahl, Chloe sparks, miller 10:59
Richardson was fourth in the 200 (28.3) with fifth-place efforts coming from Richardson in the 100 (13.6), Miller in the 3,200 (13:14) and Megan Kimbler in the long jump (14-3).
Adding sixth-place finishes were Jalan Martin in the 200 (28.6) and high jump (4-6), Reece Martin in the 300 hurdles (52.5), Richardson in the 400 (1:07), Callie Notestine in the pole vault (6-6) and Marah Reames in the high jump (4-6).
The Raider girls were sparked by runner-up finishes from Georgia Bates in the 800 (2:30.7), Isabael Henderson in the 400 (1:04.8) and the 3,200 relay of Sami Meeker, Bates, Kerry Copenhaver and Dani Widmark (10:47.3). Adding fourth-place finishes were Kate Vickroy in the pole vault (7-0) and Widmark in the 3,200 (13:05.1).
A host of fifth-place finishes came from Widmark in the 1,600 (5:49.7), Alanna Gibson in the discus (98-3), Alixis Sutherly in the pole vault (7-0), Kaycee Cook in the triple jump (28-0 1/4), the 400 relay of Ella Studebaker, Mya Burrey, Maddy Plikerd and Cheyanne Peterson (54.8), the 800 relay of Studebaker, Burrey, Plikerd and Peterson (1:57.9) and the 1,600 relay of Bates, Copenhaver, Meeker and Henderson (4:26.6).
Coming in sixth were Mylee Boysel in the 800 (2:39.8), Studebaker in the 100 hurdles (18.3) and Henderson in the high jump (4-6).
Amanda Howland carried Ridgemont’s girls by winning the pole vault (10-0), taking second in the discus (105-9) and fifth in the shot put (32-1 3/4). Also for the Gophers, Callie Cromer was second in the pole vault (7-6), fifth in the 100 hurdles (17.7) and sixth in the 100 (13.6).
Riverside’s girls were led by a third-place finish from Lauryn Sanford in the 200 (27.6) and a sixth-place finish from Cassie May in the high jump (4-6).
BHS boys 3rd at Wapakoneta Relays
Bellefontaine’s boys turned in another strong effort Friday by placing third at the Wapakoneta Relays.
Lima Shawnee won the boys nine-team meet with 90 points, Marysville was second with 83 points and the Chieftains were third with 57 points.
“Overall, we were a little flat having gone a week without competing,” said BHS head coach Ben Davis. “However, we had a very solid day out of the throwers and sprinters. We placed in 12 out of the 13 events.”
Anna held off Marysville to claim the girls title 86.5-83 with Ottawa-Glandorf coming in third with 55 points. Bellefontaine’s girls finished seventh with 30 points.
“The distance girls all raced to personal bests in the four mile relay as did Lexie Robinson in discus and two out of three high jump girls,” said Davis.
Anchoring the BHS boys with first-place finishes were the pole vault relay of Ethan Yoder, Justin Carper and Sullivan Ashcraft (31-0), the discus relay of Micah Fogan, Ashcraft and Ethan Akers (338-10) and the shot put relay of Fogan, Akers and Lincoln Howell (124-4).
A host of fourth-place finishes came from the high jump relay of Yoder, Collin Deitsch and Carter Snapp (15-11), the long jump relay of Yoder, Snapp and Evan Baker (53-8 1/4), the shuttle hurdle relay of Micah Woolf, Jaquan Mundy, Ashcraft and James Holt (1:09.01), the 400 relay of Kailyn Organ, Yoder, Baker and Harper Scott (45.5), the 800 relay of Organ, Max Varner, Baker and Scott (1:35.1) and the 1,600 relay of Varner, Mundy, Organ and Scott (3:38.2).
Leading Bellefontaine’s girls was the winning discus relay of Katie Pool, Lexi Robinson and Carmen Shumaker (292-0), while a runner-up finish came from the pole vault relay of Azlyn Bechtel, Parker Penhorwood and Ashlyn Gonterman (19-0).
Placing third was the shot put relay of Shumaker, Pool and Perri Neeld (93-5) with fifth-place finishes coming from the high jump relay of Emma Middaugh, Penhorwood and Gonterman (13-6) and the 6,400 relay of Middaugh, Ella Reier, Montanna Buck and Zoey Roster (26:17.5).
Bellefontaine hosts Marion Harding and Piqua today.
Calvary Christian competes at Hardin Northern Invite
Calvary Christian’s boys and girls track and field team battled at the Hardin Northern Invitational on Saturday.
Lading the Spartan boys were Isaac Reinhard with runner-up finishes in the discus (137-5) and the shot put with a school record throw of 45-7 1/2. He also took fourth in the 100 (12.1) and long jump (18-5).
Placing sixth were Ethan Shepherd in the 3,200 (12:19.9) and Ephraim Daniels in the high jump (5-0).
The Spartan girls were highlighted by a third-place finish from Hailey Howard int he 300 hurdles (59.05), while a fourth-place effort came from the 400 relay of Chloe Prall, Abigail Reinhard, Howard and Anastacia Rogan (58.5).
Placing with were Reinhard in the 100 hurdles (19.8) and Lexi Reames in the 1,600 (6:23.3).
Adding a sixth-place effort was the 800 relay of Prall, Reinhard, Howard and Rogan with a school record time of 2:06.1.
