Benjamin Logan’s boys soccer team shut out visiting Bellefontaine 2-0 in a Central Buckeye Conference game Monday night.
It was the first win for Ben Logan over Bellefontaine since 2011.
Ben Logan is now 3-2-0 overall and 1-0 in CBC play, while the Chiefs fall to 1-1-2, 1-1.
Ben Logan took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by Trey Allen off an assist by Caleb Epp.
The Raiders added an insurance goal by Michael Rostorfer on a 32-yard free kick with 26:20 left in the second half.
Breshon Jacobs made three saves in goal for the Raiders for his second shutout of the season.
“I’m so proud of these guys tonight,” said Ben Logan coach Jamie Hughes. “Bellefontaine is a two-time defending league champion and once again has a great team. But we came in with a game plan on how we thought we could put pressure on their back four and still defend Dakota Shell and Isaiah Henry who are two of the top offensive players around, and we executed it perfectly.
“I also want to give Chad Studebaker, our varsity assistant, a lot of credit for getting our guys really focused in and ready to play tonight. His tactical insights got us redirected to be able to play quicker and get more pressure up field. Bottom line, it was a total team effort and everyone played their role and contributed.”
For Bellefontaine, Ryan Johnson recorded 10 saves in goal.
The Chiefs are back in action Thursday at home against Geeneview, while Ben Logan hosts Jonathan Alder on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
