Fifth graders at Bellefontaine Intermediate School came together for a break from the heat wave Tuesday afternoon. Assistant Principal Jenny Salyer reported the students worked through a Leader in Me lesson on their new Chromebooks in the air-conditioned cafeteria.
School leaders have made adjustments because of the extreme heat in the 90-year-old building. Students take frequent breaks and reusable Chieftain water bottles are given to each third- through fifth-grader. Pop up tents have been set up on the playground. BMS also provided popsicles to intermediate school students and staff Tuesday. The heat wave continues throughout the week, with forecasted highs in the upper 80s and high humidity.
